Benjamin M. (Red) Bowman

November 22, 1934 — February 8, 2018

Mr. Benjamin M. (Red) Bowman, age 83, of Taylorsville, GA passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 at his residence.

He was born in Powder Springs, GA on November 22, 1934, a son of the late Shelly Butler Bowman and the late Edna Carnes Bowman. Mr. Bowman had lived the past 35 years in the Rockmart area, moving here from Alabama. He was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking and fishing. Mr. Bowman was a retired manager of Lance Incorporated.

Survivors include his wife, Iva Joyce Deems Bowman of Taylorsville, to whom he was married on March 19 2004; son, Danny Bowman, Tampa, FL; daughter, Jill Bowman, Gadsden, AL; step-son, Barry Jackson (Teresa), Cedartown; step-daughter, Joy Chastain (Frank), Taylorsville; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters; two brothers; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Davis, Rev. Jason Purser and Rev. Scott Shepard officiating . Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery with Brown-Wright Post #12 Honor Guard in charge of military graveside rites.

Pallbearers will include: David Freeman, Chad Bishop, Jackson Bishop, Frank Chastain, Barry Jackson and Will Chastain.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour at the funeral home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Benjamin M. (Red) Bowman.
