Kenneth Clifford Burns, known as “K.C.” or “Cliff” to his friends, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain Hospice. Cliff was born in Curryville, Georgia, in Gordon County on May 14, 1930 to parents Jether and Bonnie Burns. He graduated from Armuchee High School in 1948. Cliff married Joyce Beard on April 13, 1952.

Cliff began his 40 year employment with Southern Bell (later BellSouth, AT&T) in 1949 in Rome, Georgia, as a cable splicer’s assistant and he moved to the Atlanta, Georgia, offices in 1963. He worked his way up to a position in Engineering before retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Marine Corp Reserve and was called into active duty during the Korean Conflict.

After moving to Cobb County in 1963 he was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church for 40 years, serving as a deacon and as the Building Committee Chairman. He was also a member of First Baptist Marietta for 14 years.

Cliff enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and his volunteer work with the Pioneers organization in both the Perimeter and Rome chapters. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Hazel Ables, J.W. Burns, Buren Burns and Malcolm (Jimmy) Burns and granddaughter, Lacey Ann Burke.
