Mrs. Ruth Garrett, age 92, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 in the local nursing center.

She was born in Rome, GA on August 22, 1924 a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Popham. Mrs. Garrett lived in Taylorsville during her early life but had lived in Rockmart the greater part of her life. She was a member of the Rockmart Church of Christ. Mrs. Garrett worked for the Goodyear Mill for thirty seven years and following her retirement from the mill she worked for the Polk School District in Food Service at the Elm Street Middle School for thirteen years. She enjoyed cooking and making visits to Helen, GA with friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and William and two sisters Mary Frances and Lucille.

She is survived by three children: Harold Garrett (Karen), Rockmart, Michael Garrett (Ann), Aragon and Lisa Owens (Gwendell), Aragon; five grandchildren: Griffin, Emily, Brad, Ryan and Katie; four great grandchildren: Gracie, Walker, Emma Leigh and Bailey; two step grandchildren: Bryan and Joy and three step great grandchildren: Bella Kate, Wren and Emerson Rose.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 4:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Minister Josh Clevenger officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Harold Garrett, Michael Garrett, Gwendell Owens, Ryan Dover, Griffin Garrett and Brad Garrett.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 2:00 pm until the service hour at the funeral home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Ruth Garrett.
