Agnes Spinks

Mrs. Agnes Spinks, age 78, of Rockmart passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 at her residence.

She was born in Hickory, Mississippi on July 5, 1936, a daughter of the late James Columbus (J.C.) Jones and Irma Clara Wall Jones. Mrs. Spinks had been a resident of Rockmart since 1975 moving here from Cobb County. She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church and prior to ill health was a member of the Rockmart Woman's Club. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. Mrs. Spinks had worked with her late husband in their business, Spinks Brake and Alignment followed by her work in the Rockmart office of the Polk County Tax Commissioner. She had also worked as a poll officer with the Polk County Elections Office. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. (Bill) Spinks and by a twin brother, Allan Jones.

Survivors include her four children: Debbie Smith and husband Gary, Stockbridge, Vicky Warr, Rockmart, Greg Blackwell and wife Kristy, Lawrenceville and Lori Lewis and husband Ken, Rockmart; one sister, Irma Lorene Gemeny, Ohio; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; four step daughters: Barbara Townsend, Sandra Wilburn, Debbie Owens and Linda Wright and their families.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fairview Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Weaver and Dr. Larry Davis officiating. Lindsey Lewis will deliver a eulogy. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens with Rev. Ken Lewis officiating.

Pallbearers will include: Scott Hinton, Jason Blackwell, Connor Lewis, Leon Cook, Brantley Pope, Alex Hinton and Bailey Hinton.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
