Mrs. Aileen F. Brewer, age 70, of 206 Carlton Drive, Rockmart passed away suddenly Monday, October 6, 2008.


She was born on December 16, 1937 in Polk County a daughter of the late L.B. McDowell and Cora Myrtle Atkins McDowell. Mrs. Brewer had been a resident of Polk County all of her life. She was a member of the VanWert Baptist Church and the Polk County Senior Choir. Mrs. Brewer retired in 1995 from Spring City Mills of Cartersville. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, G.P. McDowell and by two sisters: Annette Glenn and Catherine Jackson.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. James E. Brewer of Rockmart to whom she was married on December 2, 1960; one son, Mr. Ronnie Brewer and his wife Trish of Summerville; five grandchildren: Matt Brewer, Kristen Snead, Joseph Montgomery, Michael Morgan and Patrick Snead; one great granddaughter, Anslee Brewer; one sister Mrs. Geneva Atkins, Dalton; one brother; Mr. Fred McDowell and his wife Christine, Rockmart; mother in law, Mrs. Bertha Brewer, Rockmart; and sister in law, Mrs. Geneva Alexander, Rockmart.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Davis and Rev. Billy Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will include: Tommy Stoner, Jimmy Powell, John Leachman, Matt Hearne, Johnny Snow and Larry McCollum. Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Polk County Senior Choir.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Aileen F. Brewer.
