Alfred Duke Elliott Jr.

Mr. Alfred Duke Elliott, Jr. age 87, of Rockmart, GA, passed away on January 31, 2022.

Alfred was born in Dekalb County Georgia to his parents: Alfred Duke Elliott, Sr. and Allie Claire Clarke Elliott on December 16, 1934. During his lifetime, he lived in many places in the metro Atlanta area growing up in Riverdale, more recently in Villa Rica, Carrollton, Tallapoosa and Rockmart, GA. Alfred began work as a teenager, operating an elevator in downtown Atlanta and held numerous other jobs before finally retiring from Douglas County Road Department in Douglasville, GA. He was a member of Metro Atlanta Seventh Day Baptist Church.

“Little Red”, as Alfred liked to be called was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Duke Elliott, Sr. and Allie Claire Clarke Elliott; stepmother, Kate Elliott; sisters: Melba Hensel and Kathy Smith and brothers: James Elliott and Charles Elliott.

Mr. Elliott is survived by his sisters: Mildred Nelms and Peggy Gachesa; brothers: Dennis Elliott and Stewart Elliott and many nieces and nephews.

Alfred never married during his lifetime and had no children but he was loved by many. He never met a stranger and loved to joke with those he met. He was an example to all in his cheerfulness and his optimism, even in the midst of numerous health problems. His heart finally gave out, yet he will be remembered for his cheerful heart while he lived and the legacy he leaves behind.

Funeral Services for Mr. Alfred Duke Elliott, Jr. “Little Red” will be held on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Luis Lovelace officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rose Hill Cemetery.

A visitation for Mr. Elliott will be held on Sunday, February 6, 2022 from 1:00 pm until the service hour at 2:00 pm.
