Annie Mae (Ann) Deems

Mrs. Annie Mae (Ann) Deems, age 78, of 734 Prospect Road Rockmart passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009 in a Rome Medical Center.


She was born in Floyd County, GA on September 27, 1930 a daughter of the late Rev. Perry C. Tate and Alverteen Cochran Tate. Mrs. Deems had been a resident of Polk County the greater part of her life. She was a member of the Morning View Baptist Church , the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and the church choir. Mrs. Deems was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse.


Survivors include her son, Mr. David Lynn Deems and his wife Daisy of Alpharetta; two grandchildren: Tara Deems and Cory Deems of Alpharetta; two sisters: Mrs. Lydia Tate Howard, Rome and Mrs. Peggy Watts, Rockmart; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Morning View Baptist Church with Rev. Hoyt Lewis and Rev. Larry Ritch officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.


Deacons of Morning View Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.


The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial gifts be made to the American Cancer Society
