Benny G. Loyd

Mr. Benny G. Loyd, age 80, of Rockmart passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 at his residence.

He was born in Rockmart, GA on April 13, 1934 a son of the late Pelham Loyd and the late Vera Baird Loyd. Mr. Loyd had lived all of his life in Rockmart where he was a member of the Second Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Loyd retired in April of 1999 from Mowhawk Industries of Cartersville. He loved woodworking and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Cochran Loyd to whom he was married on November 9, 1957; two daughters: Diane Gage and her husband Doug, Taylorsville and Lori Jones, Rome; two sons: Danny Loyd, Rockmart and Jeff Loyd and his wife Michelle, Rockmart; “special daughter” Teresa Krawiec, Rockmart; one brother, Leon Loyd, Hampton; one sister, Marian Savage, Rockmart; eleven grandchildren: Amanda Cooper, Heather Hidi, Jennifer Presley, Brad Loyd, Brandon Loyd, Kevin Loyd, Luke Jones, Lauren Gage, Sarah Gage, Kaitlyn Reeves and Emily Ingle; twenty one great grandchildren: Bailey Cooper, Chandler Cooper, Kinsey Pinkerton, Devon Presley, Nevaeh Presley, Noah Hidi, Alexander Hidi,Katherine Hidi, Brayden Loyd, Macey Loyd, Robby Carter, Morgan Carter, Ethan Loyd, Ayden Loyd, Reese Mann, Ava Loyd, Layla Loyd, Kaiden Bramblett, Lexi Loyd, Kaden Loyd and Carter Jones; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart with Rev. David Warriner officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens with Rev. Eddy Hughes officiating.

Pallbearers will include: Brad Loyd, Brandon Loyd, Luke Jones, Bailey Cooper, Chandler Cooper and Luke Woodward.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
