Betty Ann Deems

Mrs. Betty Ann Deems, age 70, of Dogwood Lane, Aragon, passed away Monday July 11, 2011.


She was born in Cedartown, GA on December 13, 1940, a daughter of the late Virmes Jackson Goss and the late Katie Lou Glover. Mrs. Deems had lived all of her life in Polk County where she was a graduate of Rockmart High School and was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart. She enjoyed putting puzzles together, working in her garden, and arts and crafts . Mrs. Deems was retired from Shaw Industries and after her retirement had worked for Belk where she was a sales associate.


In addition to her parents, Mrs. Deems was preceded in death by her step father, Charlie Clyde Carr; one son, Ravon ?Rip? Deems, on March 19, 2011; two sisters: Elizabeth Ann Mullinax and Themla Rains; and a brother, Billy Goss.


Survivors include her husband, Mr. Ravon Deems of Aragon, to whom she was married in February of 1958; one son Wendell Deems, Rome; two daughters: Belinda Paris and her husband Brad, Villa Rica, and Connie Prince and her husband William, Rockmart; five grandchildren: Beth Paris, Haden Prince, Arie Deems, Ricelyn Deems and Trace Mullinax; nephew, Lynn Mullinax and his wife April, Rockmart; also surviving are special friends Dale and Dink Wilkes, Chris and Jessica Alvey, and the Belk family.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart with Rev. David Warriner officiating. Interment will be in the Arrington Chapel Cemetery of Cherokee County, AL.


Pallbearers will include: Chris Alvey, Dink Wilkes, Alex White, Rollie Dearborn, Avery Clemmons and Josh Wilkes.


The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Betty Ann Deems.
