Betty Maxwell Knight

Mrs. Betty Maxwell Knight, age 69, of 3301 Garden Lakes Parkway, Rome, GA passed away Sunday July 12, 2009 in a Rome Medical Center.


She was born in Rockmart, GA on July 7, 1940 a daughter of the late Frank Eugene Maxwell and Carrie Lorena Benefield Maxwell. Mrs. Knight had lived in Rockmart and Cedartown before moving to Rome in 1967. She was a homemaker and of the Church of God faith. Mrs. Knight was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister ,aunt and friend.


Survivors include her four children: Roger Knight, Niceville, FL, Deidra Caldwell, Gulf Breeze, FL, Steve Knight, Kingston, GA and Scott Knight, Rome, GA; four sisters: Mildred Lanier, Rockmart, Marjorie Bowman, Rockmart, Joy Garrett, Cedartown and Deborah Pace, Rockmart; two brothers: Melvin Maxwell, Mableton and Chesley Maxwell, Douglasville; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Pasley officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memorial Gardens.


Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.


The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial gifts be made in memory of Mrs. Knight to the American Cancer Society, 1825 Barrett Lakes Blvd., Kennesaw, GA 30144.


Following the interment service the family will gather at the Maxwell family home.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Betty Maxwell Knight.
