Bobbie Layunia Sparks

Mrs. Bobbie Layunia Sparks, age 81, of Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Polk County, GA, on May 9, 1941, a daughter of the late Hoke H. Thomasson and the late Verdell R. Wright Thomasson. Mrs. Sparks had lived al of her life in the Rockmart area and was a member of the Church of Christ. She worked for the Rockmart Nursing & Rehab Center for over twenty years in the dietary department and later worked in the dietary department of the Haralson County Jail. She enjoyed watching cooking shows, working in the garden and with her flowers, spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she enjoyed her animals both cats and dogs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Anderson Thomasson.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Robert (Bobby) Sparks to whom she married on June 30, 1961; three sons, Robert Gregory Sparks, Jeffrey Scott Sparks and Christopher Todd Sparks; eight grandchildren, Sammy, Samantha, Starla, Taylor, Kirsi, Eli, Jesse and Corey; eleven great-grandchildren; brothers: Ralph and Freddie Thomasson and a sister, Alline Jones. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Wyatt officiating. Entombment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will include Greg, Scott, Todd, Sammy, Taylor and Kirsi Sparks and Levi Wyatt.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
