Bobby Joe (Bob) Harper

Mr. Bobby Joe (Bob) Harper, age 88, of Rockmart passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019 at his residence following several months of declining health.

He was born in Rockmart, GA on April 21, 1931 a son of William Prescott Harper and Frances Louise Matthews Harper. Mr. Harper lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart and was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of Rockmart Lodge # 97 F. & A.M.. Mr. Harper retired in 1992 from the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation where he was employed for thirty six years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Clark Harper on January 3, 2003; by a daughter, Lisa Wigley on August 14, 1992; by his parents Louise Harper and W.P. (Mule) Harper; by two brothers: Bill and Glenn Harper and by a sister, Diane Harper Holly.

Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Harper Gable (Dennis); brother, Doug Harper (Patsy); grandchildren: Brandi Wigley, Bobby Wigley, Leah Wood (Kelly), Brandi Manning (Jeremy), Jason Gable (Mandy), Candace Leeth (Tommy), Megan Gable and Casey Gable; fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Davis and Rev. Larry Ritch officiating. Leah Wood will deliver a eulogy. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Owen (Bud) Davis officiating and the West Georgia Masonic Memorial Club delivering Masonic graveside rites.

Pallbearers will include: Tim Lewis, Curtis Lewis, Bobby Wigley, Kelly Wood, Allen Wilson and Greg Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will include the Bojangles Breakfast Club.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of funeral arrangements for Mr. Bobby Joe (Bob) Harper.
