Charles E. (Chuck) Ellis

Mr. Charles E. (Chuck) Ellis, age 81, of Rockmart passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in the local nursing center following an extended illness.

He was born in Akron, Ohio on July 21, 1933 a son of the late Harold and Earnestine Ellis. Mr. Ellis was transferred to Rockmart, GA in 1968 by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He retired in 1995 following a forty one year career as a tooling engineer with Goodyear, Loral and Engineered Fabrics Corporation. While with Goodyear he made many trips to New York City to help with the flying of the Macy Thanksgiving Day Parade balloons that were manufactured in Rockmart.

Mr. Ellis was a member of the First Methodist Church of Rockmart. He was a former member of the Lions Club, had served as a Little League Coach and had been a volunteer with the Boy Scouts. Mr. Ellis had also served as a member of the Rockmart Planning Commission. He loved to fish and play golf. Prior to his move to Rockmart he was a member of the Carl Michael Orchestra in Akron.

Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by a brother, Don Ellis.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Donna M. Ellis to whom he was married on June 14, 1952; one daughter, Kim Hulsey and husband Perry, Rockmart; two sons: Jeff Ellis and wife Ginger, Rockmart and Gregg Ellis, Rome; four grandchildren: Jennifer Ellis, Matt Ellis, Carson Ellis and Patric Hulsey; five great grandchildren: Austin Ragsdale, Drew Ragsdale, Wesley Ragsdale, Braydon Ellis and Grayson Ellis.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 13th. at 3:00 p.m.in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Perry Hulsey, Patric Hulsey, Austin Ragsdale, Drew Ragsdale, Wesley Ragsdale and Matt Ellis.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 9 pm at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial gifts be made to the Georgia Chapter of the American Parkinson Association, P.O. Box 49416, Atlanta, GA 30359.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
