Mr. Charles W. Holcombe, age 71, of Rockmart, GA passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at his residence following several months of illness.

He was born February 13, 1941 in Polk County a son of Dewey Holcombe and Ruby Green Holcombe. Mr. Holcombe was of the Christian faith and had lived the greater part of his life in Polk County. He retired from Forsyth Ford Company of Rockmart following 31 years of service as a mechanic in the service department. Mr. Holcombe was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Holcombe; his father and step mother, Dewey and Katherine Holcombe; brother, Doyce Holcombe; and sisters: Frances Myers, Ruth Osborne, Nellie Jo Hungerman and Annie Lee Nation.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rilla Carr Holcombe of Rockmart to whom he was married on February 14, 1960; three daughters: Laura Higdon (Ricky), Heard County, GA, Teresa Williams (Phillip Chandler), Cedartown and Linda Norman (Glenn), Cedartown; two sons: David Holcombe, Hattiesburg, MS and Charles Wayne Holcombe (Kandi), Silver Creek; sister, Karen Burchett (Jack), Tallapoosa; sister in law, Dot Hudgins, Cedartown; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews..

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Revs. Jeff Hulsey and Max Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Dennis Holcombe, Charles Wayne Holcombe, Jerry Gaylor, Evan Holcombe, Dallas Holcombe and Jerry Carr. Honorary pallbearers will include: Sarah (Sal) Forsyth, Robert and Wanda Bailey and Tom Cook.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
