Clifford William Spinks

Mr. Clifford William Spinks, age 85, of Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014.

He was born in Rockmart, GA on April 4, 1929, a son of the late Raleigh Patmon Spinks and Lillian Elizabeth McGill Spinks. Mr. Spinks had lived all of his life in Rockmart where he worked at Goodyear Mill for 18 years. He also worked as a carpenter for many years before turning his hobby of horticulture into a business, opening Spinks Nursery and Landscaping that he and his wife Emma operated for 28 years. Spinks Nursery served the citizens of Polk County and Northwest Georgia bringing the joy and beauty of plants and flowers into their homes for many wonderful years. Mr. Spinks was a veteran of the US Army.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Emma Spinks, Rockmart; four daughters: Jenny Williams and her husband Stephen, Rockmart, Marie Winkler and her husband Josef, Hapeville, Ginger Parker and husband Mike, Rockmart and Cindy Ivy, Rockmart; son, Ron Goss, Atlanta; seven grandchildren: J.R. Ivy, Travis Ivy, Hannah Parker, Sarah Parker, Cody Williams, Cati Williams and Charity Williams and four great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Stephen Williams and Alan Fuller officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the memorial hour at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial gifts be made in Mr. Spinks memory to the American Heart Association, 2581 Piedmont Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30324.
