Donald M. (Donnie) Mcpherson

Mr. Donald Martin (Donnie) McPherson,II, age 52, of 66 Lyons Drive Rome, GA passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 in a Rome Medical Center.


He was born in Floyd County, GA on April 7, 1957 a son of Donald Martin McPherson and Delilah Joyner McPherson. Donnie was a 1975 graduate of East Rome High School where he was a trombone player in the school band and served as the high school Drum Major in the 1974-1975 school years. He graduated in 1981 from the University of Tennessee and was an avid Tennessee Volunteer football fan. He loved camping, hiking and being in the outdoors. Another of his favorites was photography. Prior to ill health he was employed in computer sales.


He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Martin McPherson on December 27, 1990 and by his mother, Delilah J. McPherson on June 17, 2003.


Survivors include his son, Stafford Andrew (Sam) McPherson; brother, Stephen McPherson and two sisters: Susan Stovall and Lori Drake and a number of nieces and nephews all of Rome.


A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the Oak Hill Church of Christ with Minister Alvis Miller and family and friends delivering eulogies.


The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour at 3:00 p.m. at the Oak Hill Church of Christ, 1500 Martha Berry Blvd., Rome.
