Mr. Donnie Deems, age 68, of Rome, GA passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 in a Rome medical center.

He was born on July 23, 1952, a son of the late Raiford T. Deems and the late Agnes Garrett Deems. Donnie had lived in Polk County the greater part of his life and attended Collard Valley Baptist Church. He was a member of Caledonia Lodge # 121 F. & A.M. and was a member of the Polk County Cattlemans’ Association. Donnie was a beef farmer and loved spending time at the lake. He retired from the Caterpillar Corporation in the Forestry Division after many years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Pam Deems, Rome; two daughters: Michelle Saunders (Van), Cedartown and Megan Burnett (Logan) Panama City, FL; four grandchildren: Donovan and Devyn Saunders and Emma Rose and Everett Burnett; two step children: Trina Wilkin (Rod), Tuscaloosa, AL and Scott Ballard (Lindsey), Dalton; twin brother, Ronnie Deems, Cedartown; sister, Yvonne Hines (Rick), Cedartown; special nephews: Raine and Dylan Hines and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Pilgrim officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Bobby Helms, Rick Hines, Raine Hines, Dylan Hines, Donovan Saunders and Scott Ballard.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 pm until the service hour at the funeral home. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and facial coverings are recommended.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Donnie Deems.
