Elaine Purcell

Mrs. Elaine Purcell, age 68, of Cedartown, GA passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 in a Rome medical center following an extended illness.

She was born in Rome, GA on October 30, 1946 a daughter of Eddie Luke Harris and Jessie Mae Witt Harris. Elaine had lived the greater part of her life in Cedartown , graduated from Cedartown High School and was a member of the Cedartown Church of Christ. She was employed for fifteen years with Walmart and retired from the Polk County Sheriffs office with fifteen years of service. She had most recently worked in the Polk County Magistrates office.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Harris and a nephew, Brad Harris.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Purcell, Cedartown; three children: Leslie Turner, Cedartown, Heidi Andrews and husband James, Cedartown and Chuck Broome and wife Kellie, Roswell; special "sister", Gail Ferguson, Cedartown; grandchildren: Houston Welchel, Luke Byles, Jessie Lee, Taylor Martin, Tyler Andrews and Chaz Broome; seven great grandchildren; brother, Phillip Harris, Dallas; sister in law, Sherry Harris, Cedartown and a number of aunts and uncles.

Graveside funeral and interment services will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Polk Memory Gardens with Colonel Jonathan Blackmon officiating.

Deputies of the Polk County Sheriff's office will serve as active pallbearers and include: Sheriff Johnny Moats, Colonel Al Sharp, Captain Gary Simmons, Sergeant Barry Henderson, Corporal Kevin Chandler, and Deputy Jamie Kirby. Honorary pallbearers will include the following "Granny Friends": Iva Free, Elaine Marshall, Brenda Morris, Diana Wood, Maxine Pilgrim, Dollie Babb, Carol Woods, Angela Bentley and Teena Cagle.

The family will receive friends at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. followed by a procession to the cemetery.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mrs. Elaine Purcell.
