Elaine T. White

Mrs. Elaine T. White, age 63, of Barber Road, Rockmart passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011 at her residence following several years of declining health.


She was born in Watertown, N.Y. a daughter of the late John Towsley and Marjorie Loomis Towsley. Mrs. White was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. She served as a nurse in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970 attainting the rank of Specialist Five WAC. Mrs. White had been a resident of Rockmart since 1972 moving here from Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil A. White on October 21, 1987, by a brother Daniel Towsley and an infant sister.


She is survived by her children: Dale Wilkes and husband Dink, Aragon, Cecilia Ruff and husband Jody, Rockmart, Alex White and wife Whitney, Rockmart and Jackie Williams and husband Chris, Rockmart; three step children: Lynn White, Cedartown, Jean Morton, Buchanan and Edie Shriverdecker and husband Steve, Villa Rica; 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; four sisters: Carol Hubbard, Watertown, N.Y., Doris Combs, Watertown, N.Y., Dorothy Combs, Burrville, N.Y. and Marion White, Jacksonville, FL.; one brother, William Willie Towsley, Watertown, N.Y..


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Hyde and Rev. Steve Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Sardis Cemetery with Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.


Pallbearers will include: Jeff Williams, Lane Williams, Josh Wilkes, Carl Golden, Lamar Head and Henry White, Jr.. Honorary pallbearers will include: Avery Wilkes, Colby Ruff, Alec White, Kandice Ruff, Amie Williams, Kennedy Wilkes and Mason Williams.


The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home and at other hours may be contacted at the residence of Dale and Dink Wilkes, 5095 Collard Valley Rd. Aragon.
