Faye Roberson Garrett

Mrs. Faye Roberson Garrett, age 71, of Rockmart, GA passed away at her home on Thursday, February 25, 2016 following an extended illness.

Faye was born December 3, 1944 in Taylorsville, GA (Bartow County) to the late Henry and Beulah Roberson.

On December 25, 1965, she married Johnny G. Garrett, son of the late Rev. Lawrence and Vivian Garrett, Rockmart. To this union Mark, Timothy and Matthew were born. Prior to marriage Faye was employed at the EZ Mills, Cartersville, GA. After becoming a Mother she was a happy stay at home Mom raising their three sons. She loved her family, they were her pride and joy. Her smile will always be remembered by all that loved her. She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband Johnn Garrett of Rockmart; children, Mark (Donna), Timothy (Tammy), Matthew (Jessica) all of Rockmart. Grandchildren, Zachary (Karyl) Garrett, Elyse (Joey) Beck, Griffin Garrett, Brady Garrett, Maggie and Gant Garrett. Great grandchildren include Bella and Porter Garrett and Zoella Beck. A brother Elmer Roberson, Taylorsville and sisters; Christine (Charles) Bailey, Silver Creek and Glenda (Charles) Garrett of Rockmart. Sisters-in-law; Martha (Max) Barber and Joyce (Tommy) Cooper, Rockmart. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives survive.

She received her education in the Bartow County School System. Early in life she joined Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Taylorsville, GA where she was a member for years and later moving to the Morning View Baptist Church, Rockmart, GA where she has been a long time faithful and active member. Faye loved her church and was fully devoted until becoming ill. She has served as choir member, Beginner Sunday School teacher, Nursery teacher, member of the Ready Workers Sunday School Class, member of WMU, and had served on the bereavement, purchasing, benevolent and outreach committees at Morning View Church. She loved administering to the eldery and nuturing the children. Faye had a passion for cooking, gardening, loved nature and the outdoors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Beulah Roberson. Brothers; Charles Roberson, Franklin Roberson, Stewart Roberson, Ray (twin) and Dean Roberson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, February 27, 2016 at 11:00 am in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include: Griffin Garrett, Zach Garrett, Brady Garrett, Chris Cooper, Mike Garrett, Donald Lester, Ricky Hulsey and Gary Ingram.

Honorary pallbearers will include: Don and Sue Willis, George & Peggy Earwood, David and Henrietta Edge, Kevin & Paige Edge, Bobby & Cathy Selman, Dennis & Patti Thomas, Tommy & Brenda Montgomery, Ricky & Trish Hulsey, Greg & Carol Rainey, James & Brenda Hembree, Duane Davidson, Ann Baldwin, Barbara Bennett, Ricky Sorrells, David Jackson, Johnny Thompson, Nolan & Imogene Dabbs and Freddie Joe & Shirley Stringer.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to the Morning View Baptist Church Memorial Fund in memory of Faye.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Faye Roberson Garrett.
