Freida Tant

Mrs. Freida Tant, age 67, of Rockmart passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at her residence.

She was born in Aragon, GA on June 17, 1949 a daughter of the late Cecil and Frances Johnson Teems. Mrs. Tant had lived the greater part of her life in Polk County and was a former employee of the Polk School District. She was Baptist by faith and along with her late husband, Rev. Wayne Tant had been members of the Springdale Baptist Church, Unity Hill Baptist Church and Lee's Chapel Baptist Church where he had served as Pastor. She loved to crochet and enjoyed collecting baskets.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband Wayne in 2007 by a daughter Leslie Tant in 1971 and a sister, Annette Teems in 1972.

She is survived by two sons: Rusty Tant (Kristie) and Chris Tant (Gwen); four grandsons: Wyatt, Gabe, Slade and Cameron Tant; sister, Yvonne Owens (Ed); two brothers: Michael Teems (Teresa) and Greg Teems (Robyn) all of Rockmart; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 9, 2016 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Mr. Kelly McDurmon delivering a eulogy and Rev. Butch Tant officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Hugh Teems, Eddie Teems, Connor Teems, Cameron Tant, Slade Tant and Monty Owens. Honorary pallbearers will include: Ed Owens, Jerry McDurmon and Walter Radford.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 pm until the service hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
