Gary Daugherty

April 24, 1939 — February 3, 2014

Mr. Gary Daugherty, age 74, of Cedartown, GA passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 in a Rome medical center.

He was born in Gadsden, Alabama on April 24, 1939 a son of the late C. N. Daugherty and Clara Gattis Daugherty. Mr. Daugherty had lived the greater part of his life in Polk County and was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1956-1961. While in the Navy he served on The USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and The USS Harwood. Mr. Daugherty was a member of Rockmart Lodge # 97 F. & A.M.. Prior to ill health he had been employed by C.W. Matthews Contracting Co..

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Gary Daugherty, Jr. and by a sister, Shirley Estella Tanner.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Jean Fincher Daugherty of Cedartown to whom he was married on December 31, 1961; a daughter, Wanda Leigh Daugherty Brannan, Cedartown; a son, Richard Gregory Daugherty, Cedartown; a brother, Ronald Reuben Daugherty, Cedartown; a brother in law, Edward Tanner, Villa Rica and two grandchildren: Alyssa Brooke Daugherty and Logan Tyler Daugherty both of Hiram. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Tony Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery of Cedartown with Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.

The Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Gary Daugherty.
