Glenn Walter Arp

Mr. Glenn Walter Arp, age 74, of Aragon, GA passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 in a Rome medical center.

Mr. Arp was born in Bartow County, GA on August 4, 1939, a son of the late Raymond Arp and Ramie Irene Sorrells Arp, and other than the time he was in the military, had lived most of his life in Polk County. Having been awarded a Bronze Star, Mr. Arp was a retired Master Sergeant of the U. S. Army, having spent 20 years in service to his country. He went on to serve the Polk County Police Department another 15 years. He was an avid runner which started in his military career. Mr. Arp was of the Christian faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Buchanan.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Arp, of Aragon to whom he was married on December 24, 1963; daughter Sonya Singleton and her husband Doug, Cedartown; son, Greg Arp and his wife Lori, Hiram; eleven grandchildren; one great grandson; two brothers: Johnny Arp, Aragon and Ray Arp, Paulding County; two sisters: Virginia Buchanan, Rockmart and Kathy Redden, Aragon; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 23, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Doug Singleton, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery with Bro. Timothy Davis officiating and full military honors provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will include: Andrew Williams, Chris Wallace, Derrick Vandervoot, Jason Davis, Timothy Davis and Eron Smart. Honorary pallbearers will include: Doug Singleton, Sr., Delmer Rayburn, Doug Rayburn and Michael Marcellini.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Glenn Walter Arp.
