Grace Chandler Cook

July 6, 1927 — February 5, 2016

Mrs. Grace Chandler Cook, age 88, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 at her residence following several months of declining health.

She was born in Rockmart, GA on July 6, 1927 a daughter of Robert Roy Chandler and Gussie Sorrells Chandler. Mrs. Cook had lived in Rockmart all of her life where she was a member of the Second Baptist Church, She had also been a member and officer of the Rockmart-Aragon Rebekah Lodge # 28. Mrs. Cook was a retired employee of over 30 years with the Goodyear Mill where she worked in Quality Control.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Jackson Cook on September 8, 2004; by a son, Chan Cook on October 26, 1976; by five brothers: Leonard, J.B., Raiford, Reed and Lewis Chandler; and by five sisters: Dorah Hicks, Bessie Willingham, Thelma Woods, Sarah Young and Elizabeth Chandler.

She is survived by a son, John David (Johnny) Cook, Rockmart; daughter, Kathy Flanagan and her husband Mike, Rockmart; three grandchildren: David Adams, Kimberly Cook and Alexis Casey; and three great grandchildren: Bryson Casey, Brittany Adams and Jonathan Adams.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 7, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart with Rev. David Warriner officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Freddie Joe Stringer, Kenneth Stringer, Martin Featherston, Mike Shanks, Ju McCown and Steve Turner.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour at the Second Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial gifts in Mrs. Cooks' memory to the National Kidney Foundation, 2951 Flowers Rd. South Atlanta GA 30341.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Grace Chandler Cook.
