Herma Mae Smith

Mrs. Herma Mae Smith of Silver Creek, GA passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010 in a Rome Medical Center.

She was born in Delbarton, West Virginia on May 25, 1932 daughter of Thomas Deskins and Hazel Miller Deskins. Mrs. Smith had lived the greater part of her life in the Polk and Floyd County area. She owned and operated Honey Bears Golden Acres, a golden retriever dog kennel for many years. Mrs. Smith also loved to buy and sell antiques. She was preceded in death by a son, John Paul Smith in 1998.

Survivors include four sons: Jay Gordon Smith, Jr., Chuluota, FL, Kevin Thomas Smith, Savannah, GA, Keith Allen Smith, Cedartown, GA and Scot C. Smith, Rockmart, GA; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in theChapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew Woodwarth officiating.


The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the memorial hour at the funeral home on Saturday.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
