Horace C. Adams

Mr. Horace C. Adams, age 92, of Morrow, GA, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 in Stockbridge, GA.

Mr. Adams was born in Rome, GA on January 23, 1923 to Hoyt L. Adams and Lillian Cargal Adams. He moved to Clayton County from the Big Texas Valley community of Rome, where he owned and operated Old South Vending Company. He was a founding father of both the Atlanta Youth Ranch and Community Bible Church of Stockbridge.

Mr. Adams was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. Among his decorations were the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Glennis Smith Adams, on June 29, 2001, to whom he was married on March 21, 1942.

Mr. Adams is survived by two sons: Dr. Buford Adams and wife Babs, St. Augustine, FL and Mr. Gerry Adams and wife Donna, Stockbridge, GA; a sister, Sarah Wood of Rome, GA, and a brother, Frank Adams of Rome; six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, March 29, 2015, at 4:00 p.m. at Community Bible Church in Stockbridge, GA, with Dr. Jack Bartlett officiating.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 30, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in the Antioch Baptist Church, Rome, GA with Rev. Carl Green officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Beau Adams, Gene Adams, Jeff Adams, Patrick Adams, Chase Adams and Hunter Hutcheson.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the Antioch Baptist Church, 4256 Big Texas Valley Rd. NW, Rome, GA 30165.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Adams.
