J.W. Duncan

Mr. J.W. Duncan, Sr., age 80, of Cedartown, GA passed away Friday, November 1, 2019, at his residence.

He was born in Floyd County, GA on August 18, 1939, a son of the late James Thomas Duncan and the late Lottie Redden Duncan. Mr. Duncan had lived the greater part of his life in Polk County where he was longtime member of the Wimberly Hill Baptist Church. He retired from the Ford Motor Company. Mr. Duncan was a veteran of the United States Army. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and he enjoyed fishing and golf. He also was a former Little League Baseball Coach.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Conway; by brothers: Claudie, Raymond, R.C., Marvin and Johnny Duncan and by a sister, Ludie Busby.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Knight Duncan to whom he was married on February 11, 1961; five children: Vickie Conway (Dennis), Cedartown, Michael Duncan (Pam), Aragon, J.W. Duncan, Jr.(Paula), Carrollton, Rebecca Feltner (Jeff), Corbett, Oregon, and Paul Duncan (Tina), Temple; four sisters: Sudie Cumbaa, Ruby Redden, Janie Duncan and Nancy Babb; three brothers: Jimmy Duncan, Randy Duncan and Benny Duncan; 15 grandchildren: Justin (Marketta) Conway, Tyler Conway, Andrea Conway, Becki Duncan, Amanda (James) Ruark, Haley Duncan, Colin Yates, Ella Yates, Morgan Feltner, Jessica Feltner, Sydney Feltner, Charlie Rape, Kaleigh Duncan, Emily Duncan and Jeffrey Duncan; four great grandchildren: Jeremy Conway, Alexis Baker, Taylor Ruark and Brynlee Ruark; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be on held Monday, November 4, 2019, at 2:00 pm at Wimberly Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Wright and Dennis Conway officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.

Pallbearers will include: Justin Conway, Tyler Conway, James Ruark, Charlie Rape, Lee Duncan, Chris Duncan and Danny Busby.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
