James C. (Pete) Waddell

January 18, 1944 — June 11, 2010

Mr. James C. (Pete) Waddell, age 66, of 9 Michael Blvd. Cedartown, GA passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 in a Rome Medical Center following an extended illness.


He was born in Polk County on January 18, 1944 a son of the late James Waddell and Jessie Edwards Waddell. Mr. Waddell had lived all of his life in Polk County, was of the Baptist faith, and was an avid outdoorsman. He retired following twenty three years of service as mechanic for the City of Rockmart. Mr. Waddell was preceded in death by three brothers: Gene, Hershell and Paul Waddell, Sr..


Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Martha Waddell of Cedartown to whom he was married on January 17, 1978; two daughters: Mrs. Lorie Johnson and husband Chris, Danielsville, GA and Mrs. Michelle Dickinson and husband Jimmy, Silver Creek; five grandchildren: Rebekah Johnson, Sarah Johnson , Grace Johnson, Hunter Dickinson and Emma Dickinson; one brother, Mr. Scott Waddell, Taylorsville; three sisters: Mrs. Doris Teems, Silver Creek, Mrs. Nellie Dover, Taylorsville and Mrs. Martha Waddell, Aragon; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.


Pallbearers will include: Bobby Cason, Steve Tucker, James Pittman, Bob Dickinson, Dana Teems, Marty Waddell and Heath Massey.


The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. James C. (Pete) Waddell.
