James H. Collum

Mr. James Henry Collum, age 85, of Aragon, GA passed away suddenly on Friday, January 13, 2017 in a Rome medical center.

He was born in Bartow County, GA on May 27, 1931 a son of the late James Homer Collum and Annie Mae Brewer Collum. Mr. Collum had lived all of his life in the Bartow and Polk County area where he was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. He retired following a 40 year career with J.L. Lester & Son and Eby-Brown Wholesale Grocers in Rockmart.

He was a devoted husband to his wife of 64 years, Wilma Eugenia Moore Collum who preceded him in death on January 6, 2015. Mr. Collum was also preceded in death by five brothers and sisters: Ruby Deems, Mary Lou Edwards, Sally Sorrells, William "Son" Collum and Catherine Garrett.

Survivors include two sons: Steve Collum and his wife Sue, White, GA and Darrell Collum, Aragon, GA; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Chambers and Rev. Brent Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Derek Collum, Corey Collum, Jimmy Brumbelow, Ricky Bradley, Keith Sorrells and Daniel Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will include: Lee DeVore, Gene Cantrell, Bob Allen, Billy Ward, Matthew Purdy, Wesley Deal and Bret Collum.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 until 8 pm at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. James Henry Collum.
