James Henry (Jim) Wilson

Mr. James Henry (Jim) Wilson, age 77, of Cedartown, GA passed away Friday, January 17, 2020 in a Rome medical center.

He was born in Trion, GA on July 15, 1942, a son of the late Eugene Curtis Wilson and the late Mabel Taylor Wilson. Mr. Wilson had been a resident of Polk County for over forty years. He loved guns, targeting shooting, watching westerns and was a John Wayne fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Wilson was a member of the Lindsey Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired from Georgia Power after many years of service.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Erhmann Wilson on January 28, 2008; by a brother, William Wilson; and by two sisters: Peggy Wilson Bosco and Gwen Billingham.

Survivors include his son, Michael Curtis Wilson, Sr. (Darlin), Cedartown; two daughters: Gwen Wilson Shockley, Cedartown and Kelly Wilson Thaxton, Cedartown; son-in-law, Hank Thaxton, Rockmart; three grandchildren: Brandi Schaub, William Wilson and Michael Wilson, Jr.; seven great grandchildren; two sisters: Donna Wilson Dailey, Rockmart and Patricia Wilson Scarfone, Cedartown; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 20, 2020 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Stinson and Brother Jimmy Welchel officiating. A poem will be read by his granddaughter, Brandi Schaub. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens with military rites provided by Brown-Wright Post #12 American Legion Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will include: Michael Wilson, Sr., Michael Wilson, Jr., Hank Thaxton, Sr., Lee Pendley, James Reliford and Chris Schaub.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
