James Stanley (Jim) White

Mr. James Stanley (Jim) White, age 80, of Rome, GA passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 in a Rome medical center.

Jim was born in Ashland, AL on February 23, 1936 a son of James Newman White and Grace Johnson White. He was a graduate of Auburn University and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. White began his career in Rome with the General Electric Corporation where he lived for ten years before moving to Memphis, TN residing there for ten years, then to Ft. Wayne, IN for six years and to Columbus, GA for sixteen years before returning to Rome in 2001. He served as a Deacon of the Wooddale Church of Christ in Memphis, TN and later served as an Elder at the East Allen Church of Christ, Ft Wayne, IN, the Warm Springs Church of Christ, Columbus, GA and the Oak Hill Church of Christ, Rome, GA. He was currently a member of the Church at Rome.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 57 years, Jackie Hudson White to whom he was married on September 5, 1959; son, Russ White ( Sue), Little Rock, AR; daughter, Kay White, Rome; grandsons: Kendall White ( Laura) and Taylor White; granddaughter, Libby White; brother, David White ( Brenda), Huntsville, AL and sister, Helen Whiting ( Larry), Clinton, MS.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 12 noon in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Minister Joey Haynes officiating.

The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial gifts be made in Mr. White's memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research P.O. Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014 or online @ michaeljfox.org.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
