Jerry C. Dover, Sr.

Mr. Jerry C. Dover, Sr., age 64, of 10 Ridgeview Drive, Rockmart passed away Thursday, November 13, 2008 at his residence.


He was born in Aragon, GA on November 1, 1944 a son of the late Luther W. (Bill) Dover and Annie Corene Deems Dover. Mr. Dover had lived all of his life in Polk County and was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church. He worked for the Goodyear Mill for six years and later worked sixteen years with General Motors in Atlanta.


Survivors include two sons: Mr. Jerry C. Dover, Jr. and Mr. Billy Gene Dover both of Rockmart; two sisters: Mrs. Jean Hoover, Spur, TX and Mrs. Rachel Sartin, Lindale; two brothers: Mr. Ralph Dover, Aragon and Mr. S.M. Dover, Rome; two grandchildren: Autumn Renae Dover and Cody Gene Dover of Rockmart; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Eddy Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery.


Pallbearers will include: Ricky Dover, Will Dover, Anthony Bowman, Matthew Bowman, Terry Rayburn, Ryan Dover, Larry Barber and Johnny Summerville, Jr..


The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
