Jerry Elrod Baldwin

Mr. Jerry Elrod Baldwin, age 70. of Cedartown, GA passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 in a Rome medical center.

Jerry was born in Rome, GA on May 31, 1944 a son of Charlie Otis "Doc" Baldwin and Lucille Elrod Baldwin. He lived all of his life in Polk County and was a member of the Morning View Baptist Church. Mr. Baldwin served eight years on the Polk County Board of Education and four years as Chairman. He retired from NOPCO in Cedartown where he worked as an industrial maintenance mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by a sister, Emily B. Westbrook and by a grandson, Chris Baldwin, Sr..

Survivors include his wife, Ann Baldwin of Cedartown to whom he was married on April 7, 1973; sons: Scot Baldwin, Columbia, TN , Todd Baldwin, Hartwell, GA and Wayne Summerville, Cedartown; daughters: Teresa Atkins, Taylorsville and Ruth McDonald, Adairsville; eleven grandchildren and twelve great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Brian Atkins, Robert Atkins, Jarrett Baldwin, Scot Baldwin, Jr., Chris Baldwin, Jr., Austin Baldwin, Cody Summerville and Matt Garrett.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

The family has requested that flowers please be omitted.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Jerry Elrod Baldwin.
