Jerry L. Ballew, Sr.

Mr. Jerry L. Ballew, Sr. age 71, of Rockmart, GA passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014.

He was born in Polk County, GA on December 11, 1942 a son of Earnest Ballew and Annie Duke Ballew. Mr. Ballew had lived his early life in Rockmart later moving to Texas and then made his home in Armuchee, GA before returning to Rockmart. He was formerly self employed in the scale service business. Mr. Ballew was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Survivors include three sons: Richard Ballew, Rockmart, Jerry L. (Dale) Ballew, Jr., Rockmart and Billy Lee Ballew, Calhoun; two daughters: Darlene Raines, Chamblee and Beth Gomez, Gainesville; two sisters: Joyce Streetman, Rockmart and Patricia Pope, Rockmart; two brothers: Ronald Ballew of Alabama and Earnest Ballew, Jr., Stone Mountain; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great gradnchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Stevie Waddell officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens of Rome.

Pallbearers will include: Michael Streetman, Mark Pope, Ray Young, Larry Howell, Tyler Pope, and Johnny Combs.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
