John A. Durocher

Mr. John A. Durocher, age 71, of Rockmart, GA passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 in Rome, GA following a nine month illness.

John was born in Cohoes, New York a son of the late Joseph Arthur Durocher and Cecilia Marie LaBarge Durocher. Mr. Durocher was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in Vietnam and remained an active reservist for thirteen years following his active duty service. He had been a resident of Rockmart since 1968; was a member of the Rockmart Church of Christ and was a retired employee of Union Carbide. After retirement he returned to work and had been employed for Blue Flame Gas, Auto Zone and most recently Ingles Supermarket. John enjoyed golf, woodworking and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Durocher, Rockmart to whom he was married on February 3, 1968; three sons: Rodney Durocher, Orlando, FL, Eric Durocher, Cartersville and Brent Durocher, Greenville, SC; two sisters: Celeste Stefphanowski, Cohoes, NY and Beth Waldron, Wells, NY; eight grandchildren ; one great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Minister Josh Clevenger officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery with the Military Rites delivered by the Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion.

Pallbearers will include: Derrick Noland, Michael Leatherwood, Shane Leatherwood, Nick Leatherwood, Mason Durocher and Devin Durocher.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 pm until the service hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. John A. Durocher.
