Johnnie Ramsey

Mr. Johnnie Ramsey, age 93, of 121 Dogwood Circle Tallapoosa, GA passed away Tuesday, October 7, 2008 in an Atlanta Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident.


He was born in Florence, Alabama on May 21, 1915 a son of the late Thomas Ramsey and Josie Elizabeth Wylie Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey had been a resident of Tallapoosa for the past twenty years moving from Cedartown where he had made his home for forty years. He was a former employee of the J.C. Penny Company of Cedartown and was a member of the Haralson County Church of Christ located in Buchanan. He was a former Elder and Minister of the Church of Christ and was a founding member of the Haralson County Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Velma Ramsey on July 27, 2000.


Survivors include two sons: Mr. Howell Wayne Ramsey and wife Kumie of El Paso, TX and Mr. Paul Ramsey and his wife Bobbie of Tallapoosa; five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Minister Hullon Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.


Pallbearers will include: Alvin Capes, Carlton Crider, Bobby Smith, Roy Love, Michael Ramsey and Blake Ramsey.


The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
