Johnny H. Barnes

Mr. Johnny H. Barnes, age 71, of 210 Morgan Street Rockmart passed away suddenly Monday, March 9, 2009 in a Rome Medical Center.


He was born in Rockmart, GA on March 11, 1937 a son of John J. Barnes and Josephine Drew Barnes. Mr. Barnes had live all of his life in Rockmart and retired from the General Motors Corporation in 1992. Since retirement he enjoyed gardening, wood working, helping his neighbors and serving his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Barnes and a brother Donald Barnes.


Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mrs. Bobbie Garner Barnes to whom he was married on February 20, 1959; three sons: Mr. Andy Barnes, Mr. Mark Barnes and Mr. Barry Barnes all of Rockmart; two brothers: Mr. Jerry Barnes, Ringgold and Mr. Darrell Barnes, Rockmart; two grandchildren: David and Janie Barnes and three great grandchildren: Allena James, Gavin Barnes and Allison James.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. David Warriner and Ministers Craig Hallman and Alvis Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Rockmart Memory Gardens.


Pallbearers will include: Andy Barnes, Mark Barnes, Barry Barnes, Robby James, Robert Garner, Tony Barnes, Jeff Barnes and David Barnes. Honorary pallbearers will include: Sonny York, Curtis Lewis, Bobby Bennett and Joe Maddox.


The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
