Joyce Ballard

Mrs. Joyce Ballard, age 80, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 30, 2022, at her residence.

Joyce was born in Atlanta, GA, on March 7, 1942, daughter of the late Gordon Jackson and Velma Jackson. She had lived her childhood in the Atlanta area, moving to Rockmart from Riverdale, GA, in 1986. She was a housewife and homemaker who loved her family, was a member of Mount Zion Methodist Church and attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Joyce loved to cook and was a wonderful caretaker. She was always watching the Game Show Network and her favorite shows were Wheel Of Fortune and Family Feud.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Karen Ballard, brother, David Jackson, and a sister, Vivian Jackson.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 56 years, Wesley Ballard, whom she married July 2, 1966; two sons, John Ballard, and Steve Ballard. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Joyce will be Saturday afternoon December 3, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Parris officiating. Interment will follow in Aragon Cemetery.

Joyce’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Friday, December 2, 2022, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Chuck Ingle, Kenneth Weaver, Bryan Rooks, Joe Pruitt, Buddy Bailey, Michael Jackson, and Ryan Manning.
