Katherine Smith

Mrs. Katherine Cole Smith, age 80, of Rockmart, GA passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014.

She was born in Paulding County, GA on January 27, 1934 a daughter of the late William Elbert Cole and Vera Dodd Cole. Mrs. Smith had lived the greater part of her life in Rockmart where she was a member of the Berean Baptist Church. She retired from the Goodyear Mill where she had been employed for thirty years. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dwight Smith on June 30, 2003 and by a sister, Inelle Cole.

Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Payne and her husband Don, Taylorsville; two sons: Danny Smith and his wife Cindy, Rockmart and Randy Smith and his wife Wynn, Canton; one brother, Hubert Cole, Rockmart; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with her grandson Donny Payne and the Reverend Dr. Tony Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Donny Payne, Jason Payne, Jeremy Payne, Danny Carver, Clay Smith, Patrick McElhaney, Brent Coley, Bradley West, Richard Cole, Barry Cole and Geoffrey Sharpe. Honorary pallbearers will include: Christopher Smith, Sam Payne, Jack Carver, William Carver, Jaxon Coley and Jace Coley.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
