Kathryn Pendley Terhune

February 17, 1913 — March 3, 2008

Mrs. Kathryn Pendley Terhune, age 95, of 10 Wellington Way, SE Rome passed away Monday, March 3rd. following several months of declining health.


She was born in Emerson, GA on February 17, 1913 a daughter of the late Walter Oliver Pendley and Mattie Cook Pendley. Mrs. Terhune was a graduate of the University of Michigan , had been a resident of Rome for over sixty years and had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Rome for over 50 years where she had served as president of the Edith Harbin Sunday School Class. She was employed for 37 years as a registered public health nurse with the State of Georgia. Mrs. Terhune was a member of the Quota Club International, Rome Chapter for 35 years and was a former delegate to the International Convention held in Philadelphia. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers: Mr. V.T. Pendley, Dr. Walter O. Pendley and Mr. Edwin Pendley; a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Pendley McCoy and by a daughter in law, Mrs. Sue Evans Terhune.


Survivors include her son, Mr. Barclay Terhune and his wife, Carole; a grandson, Mr. James Lee Holder and four great grandchildren: Trevon, Cade, Bryson and Lani Holder all of Rome.


Funeral services were held Thursday, March 6th. at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Rome with Dr. Joel Snyder officiating. Interment followed in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Rev. George Benham officiating.


Active pallbearers included: Trevon Holder, Phil Osborne, Ric Osborne, Lee H. Pendley, Alan G. Evans and Larry D. Evans. Honorary pallbearers included members of the Quota Club International, Rome Chapter.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
