Lelia Pearl Garrett

Mrs. Lelia Pearl Garrett, age 94, of 369 Wingfoot Street Rockmart passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010 in a Rome Medical Center.


She was born in Bartow County, GA on August 12, 1916 a daughter of the late Grady V. Lee, Sr. and Sarah Cynthia Hovers Lee. Mrs. Garrett had lived the greater part of her life in Polk County where she was a member of the Bellview Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Integrated Products.


Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Milford Garrett on April 12, 1983; by a son, Milford Odell Garrett on July 16, 2010; by a grandson, Charles E. (Chuck) Garrett, Jr. on January 10, 2009; by two brothers: J.W. Lee and Grady V. Lee, Jr. and three sisters: Catherine Gaddy, Laura Davidson and Nellie Williams.


Survivors include three daughters: Evelyn Cleveland, Rockmart, Mary Ann Moss and husband Max, Rockmart and Joan Purser and husband Wayne, Rockmart; one son, Charles E. (Tooter) Garrett, Sr. and wife Pam, Rockmart; two daughters in law: Polly Garrett and Joyce Garrett both of Rockmart; 10 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; two sisters: Myrtle Garrett, Aragon, Annette Davidson, Rockmart; two brothers: Homer Lee, Rockmart and William P. (Billy) Lee, Rockmart; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Owen (Bud) Davis and Rev. James Coffman officiating. Mr. Chip Garrett will deliver a eulogy. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.


Pallbeares will include: Charles E. (Tooter) Garrett, Scott Cleveland, Greg Moss, Bobby Garrett, Robby Garrett and Chip Garrett.


The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
