Lola B. Danforth

April 14, 1925 — August 24, 2015

Mrs. Lola B Danforth went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 24, 2015. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, sister and sister-in-law. Lola’s younger years were spent in the Harbins/Dacula area. After her Mother’s passing she would move to live with an aunt and attend Avondale High School in DeKalb County. After graduation she became a working girl at Bell Telephone Co. and moved to Atlanta to live with her maternal grandmother. Through a coworker and friend she would meet the love of her life and forever sweetheart George Danforth. They were married on February 14th 1948 (Valentine’s Day) at New Hope Baptist Church. Lola and George had one daughter Sherry Lynn. She was a long time resident of Fulton County and in fact she and George built their home on Danforth Rd, named for George’s grandfather. The Danforth clan where members of New Hope Baptist Church until the church was dismantled and sold in the mid 1980’s. About 10 years ago they were looking to down size and found the sleepy town of Taylorsville GA through their grandson. Lola and George have enjoyed living in Taylorsville and cherish the special bond they have with their Taylorsville Baptist Church Family.

Lola loved to sew and cook she was a master of the coconut cake and homemade peach ice cream. She and George were avid travelers and enjoyed motorhoming to many of our country’s 50 states meeting many friends along the way. Lola and George renewed the wedding vows on their 50th anniversary Valentine’s Day 1998. The service was on a secluded beach in Maui, HI where George once again proposed and Lola said yes. They were a shining example to everyone of what a marriage can be (67 years).

She is preceded in death by her mother, Annie Lou McClung Butler; father and step-mother, W.O. and Willie Butler of Dacula; brothers and sisters, Evelyn King, Vernon Butler, Bill Butler, John Perry Butler, and Wanda Butler Paden; brothers-in-law, Thomas King and J.T. Ethridge.
