Lottie G. Brand

Mrs. Lottie Garrett Brand, age 86, of 505 North Fifth Ave., Rome and formerly of Polk County passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010 in Rome following several years of declining health.


She was born in Polk County, GA on September 6, 1924 a daughter of Richard Garrett and Estelle Wiley Garrett. Mrs. Brand lived most of her life in Polk County taking care of her family. She was well known for her pleasant personality and the love for her family and friends. She was a member of the Seney Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Herschel C. Brand; daughter, Jean Summerville; sister, Beatrice Garner; three brothers: Richard, Forrest and Malcolm Garrett; and four grandchildren: Roshanda Waddell, Daniel Waddell, Faye Rittenhouse and Lisa Tibbetts.


Survivors include five daughters: Betty Waddell, Aragon, Linda Duke, Rome, Eva Waddell, Cedar Bluff, AL, Margie Brand, Aragon and Regina Peek, Aragon; four sons: Herman Brand, Rockmart, Ray Brand, Cedartown, Malcolm Brand, Brunswick and Johnny Brand, Silver Creek; two sisters: Lois Williams, Cartersville and Elsie Tomkowiak, Cartersville; a special granddaughter who helped with her care over the years, Sunday Stephens, Cave Spring; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren also survive.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Garrett officiating. Mrs. Sunday Stephens will deliver a eulogy. Interment will follow in the Sardis Cemetery.


Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.


The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home and at other hours may be contacted at the residence of a daughter, Linda Duke, 361 Mountain View Road, Rome, GA.


The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Lottie Garrett Brand.
