Mary Sue Mccown

Mrs. Mary Sue McCown, age 72, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, May 10, 2019 in a Rome medical center.

She was born in Centre, AL on December 28, 1946 a daughter of the late James Smith and the late Faye Lindsey Smith. Mrs. McCown had lived in the Rockmart area most of her life where she was a member of the Bellview Baptist Church. She retired from Integrated Mills and had also worked for Auto Parts Company. Sue enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she always looked forward to her annual cousins reunion held in Cave Spring.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Joe McCown on October 26, 2014; by her brother in law, Jack Rogers; by a niece, Susie Waybright and a nephew, James (Punkin) Rogers.

Survivors include her son, Steve (Susan) Doegg; granddaughter raised as a daughter, Cassie (Reed) Little; grandchildren: Cody Doegg, Max (Paige) Doegg, Jordan (Kayla) Doegg, Jackson Doegg, Kris (Amanda) Macfalda, Garrett Macfalda, Haley McCown, Jory (Jordan) McCown, Whitney McCown and Audrey McCown; great grandchildren: Adalynn (Addie Sue) Little, Max Doegg, Jr., Ryder Doegg, Walker McCown and Maggeigh McCown; sister, Patricia (Trish) Rogers and niece Kim (Bobby) Smith.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 13, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Bellview Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Purser officiating and a eulogy given by Cassie Little. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Cody Doegg, Max Doegg, Jackson Doegg, Reed Little, Jory McCown and Russ Owens.

The family will receive friends Monday from 12 noon until the service hour at the Bellview Baptist Church.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mrs. Mary Sue McCown.
