Max Lamar Gober

Mr. Max Lamar Gober, age 93, of Rockmart, GA passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at his residence.

He was born in Rockmart, GA on September 21, 1922, a son of the late John W. Gober and the late Ettie Kansas Carter Gober. Mr. Gober had lived all of his life in Rockmart where he was a member of the Rockmart Church of Christ. Mr. Gober was a veteran of the United States Army serving our country during WWII in the 521st Air Group. He spent his working career at Marquett Cement Company where he retired after 30 years of service. Mr. Gober enjoyed fishing and rabbit hunting, and he had a love for his dogs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Rufus and Ira Gober.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ann Gober of Rockmart, to whom he was married on February 22, 1952; two sons: Gary Gober and his wife Sybil, Macon and Phil Gober, Rockmart; daughter, Kathy Fitzpatrick and her husband, Dennis, Rising Fawn, GA; five grandchildren: Chris Fitzpatrick, Brian Fitzpartick, Ana Norris, Ali Gober and Ria Reed; seven great grandchildren: Jared Fitzpatrick, Cole Fitzpatrick, Aubrey Fitzpatrick, Lauren Fitzpatrick, Kate Fitzpatrick, Taylor Norris and Asher Reed; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 20, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Minister Josh Clevenger officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with Brown-Wight Post #12 of the American Legion in charge of military graveside rites.

Pallbearers will include: Chris Fitzpatrick, Brian Fitzpatrick, Jared Fitzpatrick, Cole Fitzpatrick, Ali Gober and Gary Gober.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Georgia Agape Children's Home, 3757 Johnson Road, Valdosta, GA 31601.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Max Lamar Gober.
