Maxine Sigers Clanton

Mrs. Maxine Sigers Clanton, age 99, of Rome, GA passed away Friday, September 27, 2013 in a Rome nursing center.

She was born in Calhoun, GA on May 12, 1914 a daughter of the late Doss and Estelle Payne Sigers. Mrs. Clanton had been a resident of Rome for the past nine years moving there from Adairsville, GA. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church of Adairsville and was a former employee of Enlows Drug Store of Rome. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd Jefferson Thomason in 1952 and by her second husband, Erwin Clanton in 1986; by a daughter, Grace Reed, a grandson, Stevie Reed ; by a sister, Mary Lou Ferguson and by three brothers: Frank Sigers, Dewey Deone Sigers and D.F. Sigers.

Survivors include a son, James Thomason and his wife Martha Ruth of Adairsville; two brothers: Otis Sigers, Rockmart and Everett Sigers, Edgefield, SC; five grandsons: Floyd Jefferson Thomason, Marvin Vince Thomason, Ricky Reed, Gary Reed and Wally Reed; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Ricky Reed, Eugene Sigers, Michael Sigers, Danny Thomas, Matt Elrod and Martin Jimenez.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
