Mildred Browning Shepard

Mrs. Mildred Browning Shepard, age 87, of Rockmart, GA passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 in a Cartersville nursing center.

She was born in Paulding County, GA on June 14, 1927, a daughter of the late Claude Browning and Rilla Garner Browning. Mrs. Shepard had lived most of her life in Rockmart and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Paulding County. She spent her working career at Goodyear Mill where she retired after 41 years of service.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Edwin Shepard and two daughters: Elaine Shepard Thomas and Janice Shepard Meeks.

She is survived by her seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Walraven and Rev. Henry Walraven officiating. The eulogy will be given by Eddie Thomas. Interment will follow in the Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Trey Thomas, Eddie Thomas, Brannon Meeks, Justin Meeks, Dennis Parks, Kenneth Carroll, Peter Crawford and Labron Cason. Honorary pallbearers will include: Caleb Cason, Zachary Thomas, Benjamin Thomas, Nicholas Thomas and Drew Rayburn.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
