Norris O. Alexander

Mr. Norris O. Alexander, age 82, of Highway 101 North Rockmart (the Yorkville community) passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in Austell.

He was born in Rockmart, GA on October 15, 1929 a son of the late John Alexander and Elizabeth Kirk Alexander. Mr. Alexander had lived the greater part of his life in the Yorkville community and was a retired employee of the General Motors Corporation having worked at the Lakewood Assembly Plant for thirty years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Alexander was preceded in death by two sisters: Lou Dearing and Euther Lemons and by three brothers: Troy Alexander, Roy Alexander and Gartrell Alexander.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Ruby Lee Fennell Alexander to whom he was married on July 16, 1955; daughter, Beth Carroll and her husband Freddy of Taylorsville; son, Jeff Alexander and his wife Pat of Rockmart; three grandchildren: Rhonda Taylor, Taylorsville,Lee Carroll, Taylorsville and Kimberly Alexander, Rockmart; two great grandchildren: Lexy Taylor and Zander Carroll of Taylorsville; and a sister, Grace Bailey, Rockmart.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Springdale Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby McDowell and Rev. Andy Fennell officiating. Interment will follow in the Springdale Baptist Church Cemetery with the Honor Guard of Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion in charge of military honors.

Mr. Alexander will lie instate at the church Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers will include: Mark Hardagree, Lee Carroll, Jimmy Brown, Michael Moody, Wayne Fennell and Larry Fennell. Zander Carroll will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the funeral of Mr. Norris O. Alexander.
