Mrs. Peggy Jo Haynie McGraw, age 74, of Rockmart, GA passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 in a Rome medical center.

She was born in Rockmart, GA on September 8, 1942 a daughter of John Haynie and Ola Viola Wheeler Haynie. Peggy was a 1960 graduate of Rockmart High School and served as Homecoming Queen her senior year. She was very successful in her business career having been employed as an investment manager for Delta Airlines from 1963 until her retirement in 2001. Travel was a great part of her life and she had been able to see many foreign destinations over her career. Music was another great enjoyment for her.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Virgil Haynie and by her son, David Alan McGraw who passed away on October 4, 1986.

Survivors include her husband of fifty six years, Tony McGraw to whom she was married on March 11, 1961; sister, Mary Longshore and her husband Elton all of Rockmart.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Minister Josh Clevenger officiating and a eulogy given by Mr. Russell Wheeler. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: Marvin “Bud” Wooten, David Howard, Tod Wheeler, Doug Singleton, Sr., Doug Singleton, Jr. and C.C. Hulsey. Honorary pallbearers will include: Brad Lay, Brant Wheeler, Jim Denton and Jerry Campbell.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 11:00 am until the funeral hour at the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.

The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
