Ray Albert Cook

August 17, 1930 — October 22, 2008

Mr. Ray Albert Cook, age 78, of 25 Carr Road, Rockmart, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008 in a Rome Medical Center.


He was born in Union County, GA on August 17, 1930 a son of the late Chester Atley Cook and Avie Mary Brown Cook. Mr. Cook had lived the greater part of his life in Rockmart and was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in 1948 and 1949. Mr. Cook worked for the Aragon Mill for 25 years and retired in 1992 from the Hon Manufacturing Company of Cedartown with 15 years of service. He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Cook in 2002.


Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Robinson Cook of Rockmart to whom he was married on December 23, 1950; a daughter, Mrs. Karen Ingle, Rockmart; a son, Mr. Ricky Cook, Rockmart; two brothers: Mr. Leon Cook, Rockmart and Mr. Perry Cook, Rockmart; 4 grandchildren: Brittany Cook, Adam Cook, Tim Ingle and Corey Ingle.


Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Bellview Baptist Church with Rev. R.B. Hulsey, Rev. Bill Dowdy and Rev. Roy Thaxton officiating. Interment will follow in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. John Redding and Rev. Hugh Burdette officiating. Brown-Wright Post # 12 of the American Legion will deliver graveside Military Rites.


Mr. Cook will lie in state at the church Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers will include: Keith Cook, Barry Cook, Kevin Cook, Joseph Landrum, Dennis Foor and Jim Crawford. Honorary pallbearers will include: Charles Dansby, Fred Bond, Elton Longshore, Tony McGraw, Joe Redding, Shane Nale, Jim Campbell and members of the Tri County Band.


The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
